In the Russian Federation, Sales of Drugs Decreased by Almost 5%
OREANDA-NEWS Drug sales in June in the Russian Federation decreased by 5%. Experts attribute this to a decrease in real incomes and an increase in the VAT rate. This is reported by Forbes.
So, in June of this year, 386.6 million packages of drugs were sold in Russia. This is 4.7% less than the same period last year.
Analysts say that in monetary terms, the decline was 2.4%, to 73.9 billion rubles.
The CEO of DSM Group, which specializes in research on the pharmaceutical market in Russia, Sergei Shulyak, explained that Russians have to switch to more expensive drugs, including due to leaching out of the low-cost segment from the pharmacy range of drugs. Retailers are not profitable to trade a large number of budget drugs.
