OREANDA-NEWS. Rosneft is considering the possibility of creating an Arctic cluster. By 2030, it can provide production of up to 100 million tons of oil per year, said on Monday, April 1, the chief executive officer of the oil company, Igor Sechin, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The cluster will include projects of the company in the Arctic region, as well as the already developed Vankorskoye and adjacent fields in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. "When the resource base is confirmed, the assets of East Taimyr located in the Khatanga area can also be included in the cluster being created", - Sechin said.
It is assumed that "Ermak Neftegaz" jointly with the British BP will also enter the Arctic cluster, which owns licenses in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Yamalo - Nenets Autonomous District.
"Rosneft" has 28 licenses on the Arctic shelf, but the company does not mine there. In 2014, she and ExxonMobil reported a successfully drilled well in the Kara Sea at the "Pobeda" field. But because of the sanctions against Russia, the American company was forced to stop working with "Rosneft".
"In the Kara Sea, in the area of "Pobeda", very expensive and very difficult drilling today. Nevertheless, it will still be necessary to drill at least two more wells in order to understand the future prospects. We are not yet considering the issue of its conservation. But there will probably not be much activity on the project in the near future", - said Dmitry Kobylkin, Minister of Natural Resources in December 2018.
