OREANDA-NEWS The operator of the Honest Sign labeling system, the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), is technically ready to introduce veterinary drug labeling in Russia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CRPT Mikhail Dubin told reporters at SPIEF.

"Technically, we are ready, of course. I will say my personal opinion - it is rather justified, because it would be consistent that first there is labeling of medicines, then there are dietary supplements - well, because, in principle, a gray zone," he said in response to a question about whether labeling of veterinary goods, drugs on a par with pharmaceutical products can be introduced in Russia.

At the same time, Dubin clarified that this issue directly relates to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. "There are veterinary drugs, there are intersections with human ones. And if we talk about the food chain, about quality and safety, of course, a healthy herd means better quality milk. Therefore, which drugs are given, whether they meet all the standards, requirements - this is, of course, an important aspect," he concluded.

The digital marking system was introduced in Russia in 2019. It applies to dairy products, packaged water, medicines, tobacco, shoes, light industry goods, fur coats, perfumes, tires and cameras, electronic means of delivering nicotine and liquids for them. Currently, there is also a phased introduction of labeling of beer and low-alcohol beverages, biologically active food additives, antiseptics, medical products, soft drinks and juices, wheelchairs, baby water.
