OREANDA-NEWS  The Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, the founder of the National Parent Committee Irina Volynets proposed to officially fix the Day of Pregnant Women in the calendar. This is reported by Russia Today with reference to an appeal addressed to the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children Nina Ostanina.

She recalled the words of President Putin that there is a difficult demographic situation in the country. In this regard, the government needs to develop additional measures of a "cardinal nature". This will provide support for families with children, Volynets said. According to the Ombudsman, the establishment of a holiday may become one of such measures.

At the same time, it is proposed to celebrate the holiday twice a year: in spring and autumn, namely on the seventh day in April and October.

Earlier, Irina Volynets called for expanding the action of matkapital and allowing the use of its funds for the sanatorium treatment of the family.
