OREANDA-NEWS. As representatives of the operational headquarters for the fight against a new coronavirus infection told, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia per day was 16,319. In percentage terms, this increase is 1.2%. This turned out to be the highest figure for all the period of pandemic. The total number of people infected in the country rose to 1,431,635.

In some Russian regions, the maximum increase in patients with coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic is also recorded. So, the number of cases of coronavirus infection detected per day in St. Petersburg was 695, again updating the maximum since the beginning of the pandemic. A day earlier, 686 people were infected in the city.

In other regions, there is also a significant increase in the number of infected with COVID-19. For example, the maximum rate was observed in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where 366 cases were confirmed, the Altai Territory - 305  with the previous maximum in 246 cases, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug - 288 (previous maximum rate here was 248), as well as a number of regions.

However, the number of people who recovered from the coronavirus in Russia also increased. The number of Russians who recovered after being infected with the coronavirus increased by 9,704 per day, to 1,085,607, the maximum since July 15. According to the data of the headquarters, the proportion of those who were cured dropped to 75.8%. Meanwhile, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Russia increased by 269 per day against 179 a day earlier.
