OREANDA-NEWS  The total grain harvest in Russia by the end of 2024 will amount to 130 million tons, which is two million lower than the previous forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture (Ministry of Agriculture). This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, his words are quoted by TASS.

Despite the decrease in the estimate, the final grain harvest this year will ensure food security in the domestic market and guarantee the fulfillment of export tasks, Patrushev explained. "Despite these force majeure circumstances, we will get our 130 million tons of grain," the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.

He recalled that in the spring of 2024, a number of Russian regions faced abnormal frosts for this time of year. In addition, a prolonged drought covered the country in the summer, and heavy rains took place in early autumn. As a result, adverse weather conditions led to a revision of the grain harvest forecast in the Russian Federation, Patrushev noted. "Harvesting in 2024 is extremely difficult," the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.

Earlier, the intention to revise the forecast of grain harvest in Russia in 2024 was announced by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut. According to her, this became necessary, among other things, against the background of the counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime in the Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions and adverse weather conditions in Siberia. The previous assessment of the department implied a final figure of 132 million tons of grain.
