OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, there has been a desire to promote domestic goods in new ways and to create a state-run marketplace in the country. This idea was put forward by Ivan Abramov, deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on economic policy, according to the Vedomosti newspaper.
Abramov turned to Yulia Yudina, deputy director of the department for the development of domestic trade at the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a similar suggestion. He argued that the creation of such a marketplace would provide support for domestic manufacturers.
According to Abramov, trusted Russian companies would be able to showcase their products on this platform. The consumer, he argued, would know that goods on the platform were exactly certified and had passed all necessary checks.
Abramov also noted that a potential advantage of the platform could be a minimum fee for product placement. At the end of January, Andrey Kutepov, the head of the Economic Policy Committee, proposed banning marketplaces from growing beyond a certain limit and setting a maximum percentage of online sales for such trading platforms in the Russian market at 25 percent for the previous fiscal year. This measure is intended to prevent the creation of new pick-up points that exceed the specified limit.
