OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Ministry of Justice is preparing a number of legislative initiatives providing for increased criminal liability for crimes against minors, head of the department Konstantin Chuichenko said.

"We understand that it is necessary not only to support the family, motherhood and childhood with the help of social guarantees, but also to protect the family in the public legal plane. Now the Ministry of Justice is developing a number of legislative initiatives aimed at protecting the life and health of children, the rights of mothers and fathers, as well as strengthening criminal liability for crimes against minors," Chuichenko said during an open dialogue with Valentina Matvienko in the Federation Council.

The Minister did not specify which articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation will be affected by the changes.
