OREANDA-NEWS According to a draft government decree published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, mandatory labeling of phones, smartphones and laptops in the Russian Federation is going to be launched on December 1 of this year. This is reported by Interfax.
As follows from the document, participants in the turnover of the relevant products will need to register in the Honest Sign information system from September 1, 2025.
The project also assumes deferrals for a period of one month (until December 31, 2025) for equipment that was manufactured and imported into Russia before the specified date. It will be possible to label it until May 31, 2026.
An experiment on labeling smartphones, laptops, and telephones by a decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, which will last until April 30, 2025, was launched in Russia in June last year, including these items in a broader list of labeled electronic products.
As indicated in the materials for the current proposal, the rate of illegal turnover of electronic products in Russia in various periods from 2020 to 2023 ranged from 13 to 43 percent, and "the lack of traceability and control over the turnover of electronic products leads to the sale of substandard and unsafe products."
