OREANDA-NEWS A bill of the opposition was registered in the Parliament of Georgia, whose representatives wanted to restrict the issuance of a residence permit (residence permit) to Russians.
According to the author of the initiative, parliamentarian Roman Gotsiridze, the document implies the introduction of restrictions for Russian citizens to obtain investment and short-term residence permits until the end of 2024.
Gotsiridze noted that from 2022 to 2023, Russians purchased up to ten thousand apartments in Georgia, which indicates their long-term residence in the country. The parliamentarian also added that Russian citizens also buy other types of real estate, and this later becomes a legal basis for obtaining a permanent residence permit.
"At the same time, real estate prices have increased significantly, which makes it difficult for Georgian citizens to buy and rent an apartment," the deputy complained, stressing that he and his colleagues are worried about state and national interests.
Earlier, the authorities of another country, Finland, wanted to complicate the procedure for issuing visas and residence permits to Russians. This was stated by Finnish Interior Minister Mari Rantanen after the arrest of Russian Vojislav Torden, formerly known as Jan Petrovsky.
