OREANDA-NEWS.  Over the past day, 21 119 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Russia. The total number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic in the country was 10,458,271. This was reported on Wednesday, December 29, on the website of the infection control center.

A day earlier, 21,922 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the country.

The operational staff noted that in absolute terms, the increase in the number of cases has been minimal since September 22. In relative terms, it was 0.2 percent.

Most of the infected were registered in Moscow (1798), St. Petersburg (1526), Moscow region (1342). The least number of infections were detected in Chukotka (2).

During the day, 932 deaths were registered in Russia.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor doctor Tatiana Ruzhentsova warned that the omicron strain attacks the lungs and bronchi much faster.
