OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine has come to a “point of no return” due to an increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus of a new type, head of the Ministry of Healthcare Maksym Stepanov said the at a meeting at the Verkhovna Rada.

Earlier, the politician informed said that the number of detected cases of COVID-19 per day increased by a record of 8,899, the number of deaths reached 157. Over the entire time of the pandemic in Ukraine, 411,093 people fell ill, 168,868 patients recovered, 7,532 people died.

“We are close to disaster,” the Minister said. He noted that the coronavirus is spreading around the world at a “hurricane rate” and added that difficult times lie ahead. “We need to prepare for the inevitable, it is impossible to easily pass the second wave. Therefore, our efforts are aimed at surviving these challenges with minimal losses,” Stepanov concluded.
