OREANDA-NEWS. The United Kingdom will be quarantined due to an increase in the number of patients with coronavirus of a new type, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in an address to the nation. The restrictions will take effect on November 5 and will last at least a month, until December 2.

In his address, the head of the cabinet announced the following measures: pubs, restaurants, non-food stores will be closed, food will be sold to take away, delivery service will continue to work; citizens will be allowed to leave their homes only if necessary, traveling to study, work (if the employee is unable to work at home), going out for sports, going to the hospital, buying essential goods, or caring for others will be considered good reasons; schools and universities will continue to work; matches of the English Premier League will continue during quarantine.

Johnson said that in a pandemic, there is a constant struggle and balancing between the lives of citizens and their livelihoods, which should be considered by any government. He added that lives should come first, but that the long-term impact of quarantine measures on the economy should not be forgotten either.
