OREANDA-NEWS  Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Norway will provide Ukraine with an armament package worth €1.4 billion by the end of 2024, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said. The speech was broadcast on the website of the German government. According to him, Berlin will focus on transferring air defense assets to Kiev.

The new assistance provides for the supply of new IRIS-T and Skynex air defense systems, tanks, armored cars, attack drones, radars and artillery shells, Mr. Scholz said at a conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Berlin. The German side handed over to the ally the previously promised aid package in the amount of € 600 million, the German Chancellor added.

In August, the German media wrote that Berlin was forced to reduce military assistance to Ukraine, since, taking into account the current budget planning, new funds for these purposes are not provided. It was clarified that the approved supplies will be implemented, but additional applications from the German Ministry of Defense will not be approved by the decision of Olaf Scholz.
