OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom is supplying gas to Ukraine in the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side, through the Sudzha gas measuring station (GIS), which is 42.1 million cubic meters on October 21. However, the application for the Sokhranovka gas measuring station was rejected. This was announced by Gazprom's official spokesperson, Sergey Kupriyanov, to the media.

The maximum current pumping capacity this year is 42.5 million cubic meters.

In May 2022, Ukraine ceased accepting gas for transit through the Sokhranovka Gas Injection Station (GIS), citing the fact that it was under the control of Russian forces on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).

Consequently, only one remaining entrance for gas transit to Europe remained — the Sudzha GIS in the Kursk region. Gazprom has stated that it is technologically impossible to transfer all volumes to Sudzha.

At the same time, the agreement between Gazprom and Ukraine stipulated that the daily volume of gas transported through the pipeline would be 109.6 million cubic meters, starting from 2021.

On August 6, Ukrainian troops launched an offensive to capture territory in the Kursk region. However, their advance was halted, according to Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. He stated that the operation in the Kursk region would be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the border.

The only remaining route for gas transit from Russia to Europe through Ukraine now passes through the Sudzha gas metering station in the Kursk region. In the previous year, Gazprom supplied approximately 15 billion cubic meters of gas, which accounted for 4.5% of the total gas consumption in the European Union.
