OREANDA-NEWS. Officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia with the participation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard detained 22 members of the cell of the terrorist organization Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan banned in the country.

This was announced on July 23 by the Public Relations Center of the FSB. “Employees of the FSB… as part of a special operation in the cities of Moscow and Novosibirsk and the Krasnoyarsk Krai suppressed the activities of the interregional structure of the international terrorist organization Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. […] 22 people from among its leaders and rank-and-file participants were detained,” the message says.

It is reported that the members of the cell called for committing terrorist crimes, financing fighters in Syria, as well as recruiting people and transporting them to war zones. During the detention of the supporters of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, officers found and confiscated fake passports, propaganda videos and banned religious literature.
