OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) prevented a series of terrorist attacks in the Voronezh Region, their organizers received prison terms. This was reported by the Public Relations Center of the FSB. “The FSB has suppressed the activities of the terrorist community formed in correctional colony No 3 of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Voronezh Region who have been repeatedly convicted of grave and especially grave crimes,” the message says.

During the investigation, as the FSB clarified, the fact that community members involved prisoners in terrorist activities, who left the places of detention in 2019 and 2020, was proved. In addition, their involvement in the preparation of several terrorist acts was proven, including the blowing up of an apartment building in Voronezh and infringement on the lives of law enforcement officers and cadets of the Air Force Academy, graduates of which take part in the military operation in Syria.

The verdict was delivered on November 13. Five people were involved in the case. They were found guilty under five articles of the Criminal Code: attempted terrorist act, organizing a terrorist community and participation in it, facilitating terrorist activities, public calls for terrorist activity, justification or propaganda of terrorism, and public calls for extremist activity.
