OREANDA-NEWS  France became the largest importer of Russian fossil fuels to the EU in October, which imported Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) worth 233 million euros, according to analysts from the CREA Center for Energy and Clean Air Research.

"In October, France became the largest importer of Russian fossil fuels to the EU, which imported Russian LNG worth 233 million euros," the material on the agency's website says. It is noted that in 2024, the volume of imports of Russian LNG by France will increase significantly compared to the previous year.

As specified, from December 5, 2022 (when oil supplies from Russia by sea to the EU were banned) to the end of October this year, the largest buyer of LNG from Russia was the EU, which purchased 49% of Russian liquefied natural gas exports, followed by China (22%) and Japan (18%).

Also during this period, the EU became the largest buyer of pipeline gas from Russia – it acquired 40% of Russian gas through pipes, followed by China (29%) and Turkey (25%).

The largest buyers of petroleum products from Russia were Turkey, which acquired 24% of the total volume of Russian exports of petroleum products, China (12%) and Brazil (11%). Finally, among the largest oil buyers, China bought 47% of all oil exported by Russia, India (37%), the EU (6%) and Turkey (6%).

Earlier, the Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the West made a serious mistake by refusing to buy energy resources from Russia, it will fall into a new, stronger dependence due to higher prices. Moscow stated that those who refused would still buy more expensive through intermediaries and would buy Russian coal, oil and gas.
