Five People Were Killed during an Attack of Turkish Drone in Northern Iraq
OREANDA-NEWS. A strike of a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle in the Iraqi governorate of Erbil killed five people, including two Iraqi army officers and members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
This was reported by the television channel Sky News Arabia. Journalists clarify that the drone attacked a convoy of Iraqi border guards by mistake. According to the source of the TV channel Al Sumaria in the Iraqi security agencies, the blow was struck at the place where the meeting between Iraqi border guards and members of the PKK took place.
Since 2015, the Turkish military has been conducting air and ground operations in the north of Iraq, populated by Kurds, against the PKK bases located there. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq stated earlier that Baghdad could apply to the UN Security Council and the Arab League to stop Turkey’s military operations in the territory of the country.
