OREANDA-NEWS. The foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden and Ukraine called on Iranian authorities to pay compensation to the families of passengers killed in the airplane crash in Tehran.

Reuters agency reports that representatives of countries, citizens of which died in a crash, met in London to discuss all the details of the incident and the ongoing investigation. In the final statement, the ministers demanded that Iran holds “a thorough, independent and transparent international investigation open to grieving nations.”

Boeing 737-800 of Ukraine International Airlines crashed on January 8 a few minutes after leaving Tehran Airport. All 176 people who were on board died. Initially, Tehran denied any involvement in the incident. On January 11, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps admitted that Boeing was shot down by Iranian air defense due to an operator’s error.
