OREANDA-NEWS  Fishermen of the Russian Federation caught 4 million 582.5 thousand tons of fish by December 3, which is 8.5% less than on the same date last year, according to the materials of the Federal Fisheries Agency.

In the Far Eastern Fisheries Basin, the catch decreased by 8.2% to 3.496 million tons. Pollock produced 1.848 million tons (14.5 thousand tons more), cod - 100.9 thousand tons (6.6 thousand tons less), Pacific herring - 390 thousand tons (38.6 thousand tons more), flounder - 58.8 thousand tons (14.8 thousand tons less), sardines and iwasi (in the exclusive economic zone Russian Federation) - 533.5 thousand tons (41.8 thousand tons more).

The volume of catch of Pacific salmon amounted to 235.5 thousand tons, including pink salmon - 136.2 thousand tons, chum salmon - 54.6 thousand tons, sockeye salmon - 35.9 thousand tons. Compared to 2022 (salmon catches are compared between even and odd years), the decrease is 13.5%.

416.5 thousand tons were produced in the Northern Basin, which is 5.6% less than last year. Including the catch of cod decreased by 44 thousand tons, to 210.6 thousand tons, haddock - by 15.4 thousand tons, to 58 thousand tons. Only Putin's capelin is in the black - 51.7 thousand tons, which is 28.6 thousand tons more than a year earlier.

In the Western Basin, the catch decreased by 3.4 thousand tons to 68.2 thousand tons. Including 22.3 thousand tons of Baltic herring were extracted (1 thousand tons less).

Fishermen of the Azov-Black Sea basin reduced their catch by 14.8%, to 30.9 thousand tons, and the Volga-Caspian Basin by 14%, to 69.4 thousand tons. Caspian sprat produced 22.1 thousand tons, which is 6.5 thousand tons less than a year ago.

In the exclusive economic zones of foreign states, convention areas and the open part of the World Ocean, Russian fishermen caught 459.5 thousand tons of fish, which is 12.5% lower than the level of the corresponding period in 2023. Including in the zones of foreign states, the catch decreased by 1.8%, to 262.5 thousand tons, in the convention areas and the open part of the World Ocean - by 23.6%, to 197 thousand tons.
