Finland Will Close Borders for Residents of Ten Countries from August 24
OREANDA-NEWS. The authorities of Finland decided to close borders again for residents from ten countries from August 24 due to the situation with coronavirus in these states.
This was reported on the website of the Finnish government on August 19. “Internal border control will be restored for traffic between Finland and Iceland, Greece, Malta, Germany, Norway and Denmark,” the statement reads. The restrictions will also apply to Ireland, Cyprus, San Marino and Japan. The main criterion for opening borders is the incidence rate of COVID-19, which should not exceed 8 per 100 thousand people over the past 14 days.
The change will affect also those arriving from USA, Canada, Turkey and Australia. The decision on each entry into Finland will be made on an individual basis at the border.
According to the website Worldometer, as of August 19, for the entire period of the epidemic, 7,776 coronavirus cases were registered in Finland. 334 people died. 7,050 patients recovered.
