OREANDA-NEWS. The acceleration of the growth of the Russian economy in the third quarter was the result of one-off factors. Experts surveyed by the portal "The Future of Russia. National Projects" believe that in the fourth quarter GDP growth will slow down, and by the end of the year it will be about 1%.

On October 17, the Ministry of Economic Development gave a preliminary estimate of Russia's GDP growth in the third quarter. According to the ministry, the indicator in annual terms accelerated to 1.9% after 0.5 and 0.9% in the first and second quarters, respectively. At the same time, growth over three quarters is estimated at 1.2%.

Experts note that the assessment of the Ministry of Economic Development may be somewhat overstated or related to the characteristics of statistics. "The estimate of the Ministry of Economic Development is preliminary, we expect that the official estimate of Rosstat for GDP in the third quarter, which will be released in November, may be slightly lower (by 0.2-0.3 percentage points). In general, the market now expects growth in the third quarter in 1.5%", says Sofia Donets, chief economist for Russia and the CIS at Renaissance Capital Investment Group.
