Experts noted the rapid increase in corn prices in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, corn is noticeably more expensive against the background of low forecasts of its harvest compared to 2023.
As reported in the monitoring of the company "ProSerno", which was reviewed by Interfax, last week corn prices in the south increased immediately by 835 rubles, to 16,583 rubles per ton (EXW, European part of the Russian Federation, including VAT), in the Chernozem region - by 750 rubles, to 15,210 rubles, in in the center - by 565 rubles, up to 14,917 rubles.
This is the highest price dynamics in the Russian grain market last week.
According to the company's CEO Vladimir Petrichenko, the current corn harvest will be a failure, it may amount to 11.9 million tons.
Dmitry Rylko, Director General of the Institute of Agricultural Market Studies (ICAR), also predicts a harvest of less than 12 million tons. This will be the lowest figure since 2018.
In 2023, according to Rosstat, the corn harvest amounted to 16.6 million tons.
Wheat of the 3rd class rose the most in the Volga region - by 375 rubles, to 15,013 rubles, in the south the increase was 150 rubles, to 17,183 rubles. In the Chernozem region, after a decrease, prices recovered by 120 rubles, to 15,420 rubles. The largest decrease - by 235 rubles, to 13,750 rubles, was noted in the Urals.
In the wheat market of class 4, price fluctuations were more noticeable. The largest increase - by 465 rubles, up to 16,150 rubles per ton, was recorded in the south. In the center, the growth amounted to 350 rubles, up to 13,750 rubles. Most of all, this wheat fell in price in the Urals - by 435 rubles, to 12,067 rubles.
The South and the Urals have become "price poles" in the wheat market of the 5th class. In the south, prices increased by 235 rubles, to 14,483 rubles, in the Urals they decreased by 165 rubles, to 10,617 rubles.
Prices for feed barley increased the most in the center - by 350 rubles, to 13,167 rubles, while the Volga region decreased by 225 rubles, to 12,500 rubles per ton.
Rye mostly rose in price, most of all in the center and the Chernozem region - by 250 rubles, to 11,083 and 11,875 rubles per ton, respectively.
