OREANDA-NEWS. Children and adolescents are least affected by the Chinese coronavirus 2019-nCoV. Izvestia newspaper writes that this is evidenced by the results of research by foreign and Russian scientists.

According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, just 2% of the total number of cases of infection are registered with people under 19 years old.

Russian experts also confirm that children are less susceptible to coronavirus, although they are at higher risk regarding other pathogens. According to Alexander Lukashev, the Director of the Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medicine of the Sechenov First Moscow State University, children are really less vulnerable to 2019-nCoV.

Teenagers are less likely to get sick due to the characteristics of their immune system. The main risk group is people over 60 who are also more susceptible to other diseases.
