OREANDA-NEWS. The EU has agreed to blacklist several more Russian officials for holding elections in Crimea in September 2019. This was announced on Tuesday by a Russian media diplomatic source in Brussels.
"A consensus has been reached between EU countries on the introduction of restrictive measures against several Russian officials in connection with the elections in Crimea and Sevastopol in 2019", he said. According to the interlocutor of the agency, an official decision on this is expected during the day at a meeting of the EU Council on common issues in Brussels.
Earlier it was reported that Cyprus is blocking new European Union sanctions against several officials from the Crimea in an attempt to enlist the support of Brussels for tougher actions against Turkey - because of Ankara’s decision to drill in the Cyprus exclusive economic zone, Reuters reports citing three diplomatic sources.
