OREANDA-NEWS  The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has said that Israel has not kept its word in the recent truce in Gaza.

On the day before, Abu Ubaida, a spokesman for the military wing of the Hamas movement in Palestine, said that they had decided to postpone the planned release of hostages for Saturday due to Israel's failure to comply with the agreement. Among the Israeli violations that Ubayda mentioned was the delay in returning displaced people to the northern part of Gaza, as well as problems with delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territory. During the signing of the decree, US President Donald Trump had demanded that Hamas release all the hostages by Saturday afternoon, threatening that "hell will break out" if they did not.

As in previous years, Israel has not fulfilled its promises made in the latest ceasefire agreement. The Turkish leader said this at a press conference in Malaysia, emphasizing that Israel must end its occupation and compensate for the damage it has caused. He also emphasized that an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is a necessary condition.

During the 15-month armed escalation in the Gaza Strip, 46,000 Palestinians and approximately 1,500 Israelis were killed. The conflict also spread to Lebanon and Yemen and provoked an exchange of missile strikes between Israel and Iran.

As part of the first phase of the agreement, which includes the release of 33 Israeli hostages and approximately 1,000 Palestinian prisoners within 42 days, five exchanges have already occurred. As a result, Israel has managed to bring back 21 captives, including five citizens of Thailand. Currently, 76 captives are still held in Gaza, and it is estimated that about half of them are deceased. Since the start of the ceasefire, humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip have increased to 600 trucks daily, including 50 fuel trucks. Additionally, Israel has allowed residents of Gaza to return from southern to northern areas of the enclave.
