OREANDA-NEWS  Rosrybolovstvo constantly monitors the situation in the Kerch Strait after the emergency with the wreck of the tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239. This is stated in the Telegram channel of the department.

"The head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov instructed the Azov-Black Sea Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo and VNIRO to analyze the situation. A working group has been created, specialists have been sent to the site," the press service shared information. It is also clarified that for a comprehensive assessment of the extent of damage to water resources, aerial reconnaissance and water sampling will be required. They will be able to calculate it after the weather normalizes and the consequences of the accident are eliminated.

Earlier in the day, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, called dangerous weather conditions a possible cause of the tanker crash in the Kerch Strait. According to him, the Sea of Azov is very sensitive to strong winds, because it is shallow, and high waves on it are especially dangerous and can lead to an emergency.
