Employees of the former Nissan plant in Russia were sent on vacation

OREANDA-NEWS The former Nissan site in Russia, Avtozavod St. Petersburg, will stop assembling Xcite cars from July 22. Interfax reports on sending employees of the enterprise on vacation with reference to the company's press service.
The company operated under the Nissan brand from 2009 to 2022. After the Japanese company left the Russian market, the plant was transferred for a symbolic cost in favor of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a repurchase option. Later, Lada cars began to be assembled at the site based on the FAW Bestune T77 model, but then cooperation with the Chinese concern was severed.
The logo with the letter X inscribed in the oval was registered in January 2024. Under this brand, they were going to produce passenger sports cars, unmanned vehicles, vans, trailers, engines, car parts, as well as toys and Christmas decorations. According to the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov, the company's product line will expand due to partner, licensed projects.
In St. Petersburg, Russia's first dealership of the Russian Xcite brand was opened at the end of May. The X-Cross 7 crossovers went on sale in two trim levels — Enjoy and Techno. Their recommended retail price started from 2.499 million rubles.
