OREANDA-NEWS The American newspaper Washington Post, citing leaked US intelligence documents, claims that Egypt in March, after negotiations with American officials, suspended a plan to secretly supply missiles to Russia and instead decided to produce ammunition for Ukraine.

Earlier, the newspaper, citing a US intelligence document, claimed that Egypt planned to secretly send up to 40,000 missiles to Russia. "In the new document... It is said that Egypt postponed the Moscow deal and approved the sale of 152- and 155-millimeter artillery shells to the United States for supplies to Ukraine,"the publication said. As the newspaper notes with reference to the document, Egypt was going to use its capabilities to produce ammunition for Ukraine as a "lever" to obtain American equipment, including F-35 fighters and Patriot air defense systems.

According to the publication, the documents did not indicate whether Egypt revived the Moscow plan or whether Cairo still supplied the United States with ammunition for Ukraine.

The Pentagon is investigating a leak in the social network of materials describing the state of the Ukrainian troops and the plans of the United States and NATO to strengthen them. The New York Times noted that documents dated early March were allegedly distributed in "Russian pro-government telegram channels." It was claimed that more than 100 documents could get on the Internet, the damage from the incident is estimated as significant.

The Pentagon told RIA Novosti that they are studying information about the leak. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the leak, said that Moscow has no doubt that the United States and NATO are directly or indirectly involved in the Ukrainian conflict.
