DPR Declared the Death of Two Ukrainian Officers Preparing a Subversive Act

On December 4, Mikhail Popov, the press secretary of the Ministry of State Security of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) reported that two officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) died on the contact line in the Donbass during the preparation of a subversive act. According to Popov, on November 30, two employees of SBU perished during preparing a provocation.
“The group’s task was to capture one of the key positions of the DPR militia. When a sabotage group entered the territory of the DPR, the activities of the sabotage and reconnaissance group were identified by the People’s Militia,” the press secretary said.
He noted that during the retreat, one of Ukrainian officers died, having been blown up by a mine. The second also was blown up a mine, trying to evacuate his colleague’s body.
According to the deputy chief of the People’s Militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, “the enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance group had the task of carrying out armed subversive act.” In particular, the group, which included senior officers SBU, was supposed to “shell from the territory controlled by the DPR and to destroy the representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine” who arrived with the inspection commission to check the units at the front line.
“During reconnaissance and search operations at the place of destruction of the sabotage and reconnaissance group, a corpse… special equipment and weapons were found. Installation sites for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also identified. The IEDs found by our sappers were destroyed on the spot by blasting. Elements of the devices were taken for a thorough examination,” Basurin said.
