OREANDA-NEWS Crimea is ready to offer Belarus its ports for transshipment of goods exported to third countries, said Mikhail Solomentsev, Acting Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation.
"Crimea is the southern sea gate of Russia. The delivery of goods that Belarus is ready to export, and there are many of them, including fertilizers, agricultural products, through Crimea has great prospects. This is a much shorter (transport - ed.) shoulder to African countries, to the Persian Gulf countries, to North Africa, across the Black Sea, across the Mediterranean Sea," Solomentsev told reporters in Minsk on Monday. He stressed that the Kerch and Feodosiya ports, in particular, are ready to accept goods from Belarus for further delivery to third countries. Solomentsev stressed that the Crimean ports are ready to serve Belarusian cargo, there are necessary spare capacities.
Solomentsev said that cooperation in the field of fishing and fish processing is promising. According to him, with the appropriate fleet, it is possible to catch fish not only in the Black Sea and send it for processing to Belarus, but also in the waters of West Africa. "The African side is interested in this... Maybe we will discuss this issue at the Russia-Africa forum in July. I think we need to join forces, there are great prospects here that are interesting to both the African side, our side, and the Belarusian side," he stressed.
Solomentsev noted that there are many promising areas for the development of cooperation with Belarus in the economy, in the humanitarian, cultural spheres, the implementation of educational and youth programs, the development of tourism, and they are planned to be developed.
According to him, the parties are currently working on specific issues of economic cooperation and trade development. At the moment, the indicators of trade turnover are in favor of Belarus, said Solomentsev. "Belarus supplies more (goods - ed.) to Crimea, but we are ready to accept even more goods," he stressed.
