OREANDA-NEWS. China appreciates the point of view of Russian President Vladimir Putin that attempts to restrain the development of China and the Russian Federation are a serious mistake. So, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang commented on the Russian leader’s statement at a briefing on Friday.
"We attach great importance to the positive and clear position expressed by President Putin. Recently, some states have been following the principles of one-sidedness and interfering in the internal affairs of other states using the sanctions mechanism, which has an impact on the existing world order and undermines the foundations of the current system of international relations", he pointed out. "Such a practice is a movement in the opposite direction and in fact it's a big mistake that is deeply not welcomed (by the international community)", the diplomat added.
"China and Russia are permanent members of the UN Security Council and major developing countries. Both of our countries strive to protect national sovereignty and security, the basic norms of international law", said Geng Shuang. “We have common interests and needs, therefore we share responsibility for maintaining global peace and stability, as well as for upholding justice and honesty in international relations”, the official representative of the foreign ministry said.
