OREANDA-NEWS. The number of patients as a result of the outbreak of a new coronavirus in Hubei Province in central China exceeded 48.2 thousand people, of whom 1310 died, 3441 people recovered. This was announced on Thursday by the committee on hygiene and health care in the region. According to updated data, the official mortality rate was 2.7% instead of 3.2% a day earlier.

On Wednesday morning, regional authorities reported more than 33.3 thousand patients, 1068 victims and 2639 recovered. As noted in a statement circulated by the committee, the number of people infected in the administrative center of Hubei in Wuhan, which is considered the main source of the spread of the disease, exceeded 32.9 thousand people. In second and third place are Xiaogan and Huanggang, where the number of cases was about 2.8 thousand and 2.6 thousand, respectively.

In addition, the province has more than 9 thousand people with suspected quarantined viruses. More than 77.3 thousand residents who had close contact with the infected are also under medical supervision.
