OREANDA-NEWS Chinese manufacturers have begun to actively develop weapons to combat drones. Beijing has become interested in drone protection against the background of the massive use of drones during a special military operation in Ukraine, writes the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The author drew attention to the publication of the official newspaper of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) The PLA Daily. The article stressed that Beijing is exploring various ways to combat drones, including the British DragonFire laser. The newspaper also reported that the PLA command called for the creation of "smarter and more efficient" anti-drone systems.

The SCMP stressed that anti-drone weapons could prove vital for China in the event of a conflict in the Taiwan Strait. It is noted that earlier the United States promised to arrange an "unmanned hell" for mainland China in the event of an invasion of Taiwan.

In July, it became known that Raytheon UK, together with the British Ministry of Defense, conducted successful tests of the High-Energy Laser Weapon System (HELWS) laser cannon. The installation on the chassis of the Wolfhound armored car hit targets at a distance of more than a kilometer.
