OREANDA-NEWS Most companies in Russia are faced with a shortage of qualified personnel. The Izvestia newspaper reports on the difficulties of business with reference to the survey.

More than half (61 percent) of companies are experiencing difficulties. At the same time, 84 percent of respondents conduct training for their employees, mainly in specialties related to physical labor (31 percent) and mass positions (27 percent). Training programs are most in demand for specialists in finance (36 percent), HR (35 percent) and employees engaged in physical labor (32 percent).

As a rule, the business trains new employees (71 percent) and line employees from different departments (68 percent). Online courses are most often used (55 percent) and training at work or in the office (54 percent). The most popular methods are instruction and mentoring.

In the spring of 2024, the shortage of workers in the Russian IT industry amounted to 45 percent of the number of employees, and employers' demand for qualified employees in this area has almost doubled. According to the center for strategic research "North-West" and the company Positive Technologies, the shortage of employees in the field of information security is about 50 thousand people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that in the coming years the Russian economy will experience a shortage of personnel and it will not be possible to cope with the problem of a shortage of workers in the medium term. According to him, the situation on the Russian labor market is negatively affected by "demographic challenges". Therefore, the President promised Russian universities and institutes additional support in the issue of training qualified personnel.
