OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, in a summary of the events during the protests on the night of August 11–12, informed that its employees used firearms, opening fire to for effect.

In a message from the agency posted in its Telegram channel, it is reported that there were “facts of open confrontation with the organs of order” in a number of cities, and in the city of Brest “a group of aggressively minded citizens with reinforcement rods in their hands attacked militia officers.” “The warning shots into the air did not stop them. To protect the life and health of employees, firearms were used foe effect. One of the attackers was wounded,” the Interior Ministry explained.

It is also said that five attacks with cars were committed on law enforcement officers during the day. In the city of Zhodzina, after such a collision, a soldier was hospitalized with numerous injuries.

In total, 14 militiamen and military received injuries of varying severity, some of them were hospitalized. 17 criminal cases were initiated because of the attacks.
