Azerbaijan Reported about Evacuation of Armenian Troops from the Capital of Nagorno-Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported the evacuation of the Armenian military from the capital of the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert, after the attack on their positions.
“The personnel of the military units of the Armed Forces of Armenia, who suffered heavy losses from the fire strike of the Azerbaijani army on Khankendi [Stepanakert. – Ed.], are being evacuated,” the statement of the press service reads. According to the Ministry, on October 8, during a military operation, the Azerbaijani army destroyed the staff of the mountain rifle regiment of the Armenian Armed Forces. It is also reported that a high-ranked officer was seriously wounded, another senior officer and “a large number of servicemen” died. In addition, the agency announced the seizure of 6 tanks, destruction of 13 tanks, 2 infantry fighting vehicles, 4 multiple launch rocket systems and other equipment.
Press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Shushan Stepanyan, confirmed the information about missile strikes from Azerbaijan. She added that civilians were also attacked.
However, according to her, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has remained unchanged. “The defense detachments fully control the situation, they are ready for any development,” Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook page.
