OREANDA-NEWS. The Azerbaijani side assured Moscow that the incident with the Russian helicopter will be promptly investigated and the perpetrators will be punished. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, posted on its Telegram channel.

On November 9, the Russian Defense Ministry informed that the helicopter Mi-24 was brought down over Armenia near the border with Azerbaijan. Two crew members died, one was injured. The agency specified that the aircraft was shot down from a portable air-defense missile system outside the combat zone in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry admitted that the Russian helicopter on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border was brought down by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces by mistake, adding that Baku is ready to pay compensation to Moscow.

“We assess positively the fact that Baku immediately admitted its guilt. We also note the assurances given by the Azerbaijani side that a prompt investigation of this incident will be carried out and the perpetrators will be punished,” the Foreign Ministry of Russia stated.
