AvtoVAZ has supplied about 5,000 Lada cars to Yandex since the beginning of the year

OREANDA-NEWS AvtoVAZ has delivered about 5,000 Lada cars to Yandex since the beginning of 2024, Alexander Vinogradov, head of the Department for Interaction with Federal Authorities of AvtoVAZ JSC, said at the session of the XII International Eurasian Taxi Forum (MEFT).
"Cooperation with Yandex has already given us about 5,000 cars this year, which we have already delivered. If all this is scaled, it will be about 10 thousand (by year - IF). And this is only 1-2% by and large of our annual production program - more than 500 thousand cars will be produced this year," Vinogradov said, later clarifying to journalists that a total of 10 thousand cars should be transferred this year not only to Yandex, but also to other services.
At the session, Vinogradov noted that the share of Lada in taxi companies in large Russian cities is still small relative to foreign cars.
"At the moment, our Chinese colleagues have entered taxi companies, especially in expensive price segments. In all tariff groups, they replace the departed European brands. Lada, unfortunately, cannot yet confidently occupy a niche even in the "economy" tariff, if we talk about Moscow, about St. Petersburg. However, the whole country uses the popular Granta and Vesta models in taxis. At the same time, in our view, Granta is a segment of the "economy" tariff for taxi companies in the regions; Vesta is "comfort", "comfort-plus". In September, we are releasing Aura, which we consider as an option for the business tariff," he added.
As Sergey Ilyinsky, a representative of AvtoVAZ, told reporters earlier, the production of Lada model range cars in the first half of 2024 increased by 73% to 235.8 thousand units, which exceeded the figure for the whole of 2022. Lada sales in Russia increased by 51.5% over the same period, to 217,631 units.
