Pavel Filip, American Ambassador Broach Reforms Agenda
OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met U.S. Ambassador to Chisinau James D. Pettit. The officials discussed the implementation of the reforms agenda and measures for boosting Moldova’s relations with foreign partners, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Filip thanked the American Government for the support and lasting assistance to modernize the country and promote democratic values.
The Prime Minister also tackled the current priorities of the governmental team and goals for next period, noting that the implementation of the Roadmap concerning the reforms agenda and stabilization of the financial and economic situation were the main aspects in the cabinet’s work. Also, Filip highlighted the good cooperation with the parliamentary majority in the process. “Presently, we have implemented 68 per cent of the provided for actions, and by late July, as we established, we will fulfill all the commitments assumed before citizens and development partners,” he said.
“In general, we are satisfied with the steps of reform, we feel progress and we congratulate you in this respect. The government is working much, so we encourage you to maintain the pace of implementing reforms,” James Pettit said.
The officials exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, tackled issues related to strengthening the relations between the two states, as well as on preparation for negotiating a country agreement with the International Monetary Fund, a mission of which is going to come to Chisinau in early next July.
