EC Appoints new Head of European Commission Regional Office in Bonn
OREANDA-NEWS. The European Commission appointed Mr Jochen P?ttgen as the new Head of the European Commission Regional Office in Bonn (Germany). He will take up duties on 1 June 2016.
Mr Pottgen brings 20 years of experience notably in the fields of Trade and Human Resources management, as well as in communication, to this post. Since September 2014 he has been International Relations Officer responsible for Diplomatic Trade Relations with third countries, at the Commission's Directorate-General for Trade.
He was awarded a degree in political sciences, with specialisation in Economics at the University of Florence, Italy. He speaks fluently German, English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Jochen P?ttgen started at the European Commission in 1996 as a Press Officer and Case handler for anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases in the Directorate-General for Trade. After five years in the Directorate-General for Trade, Jochen P?ttgen joined the then Directorate-General for External Relations (European External Action Service) as Head of the Human Resources Sector.
In 2004, Jochen P?ttgen was appointed Head of Chancery at the EU Delegation in Russia, responsible for Human Resources, Budget and Infrastructure. After four years in Russia, he returned to Brussels to assume the responsibility of Deputy Head of Unit at the then Directorate-General for External Relations (European External Action Service) until 2011. In September 2011, he was posted to the Botswana Delegation for three years as Head of Section dealing with Press and Information, Trade and Politics for the European External Action Service.
