OREANDA-NEWS An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred near the coast of Kamchatka at 07:24 Moscow time. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to preliminary data, the epicenter is 123 kilometers away from the coast, its depth was about 27 kilometers under the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

"In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Yelizov, Vilyuchinsk and a number of settlements of the Yelizovsky district, the tremor was felt with a force of up to five points," the message says.

There are no casualties, the threat of a tsunami has not been announced at the moment.

On August 27, an earthquake of magnitude 3-4 occurred in the waters of Lake Baikal. Also, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded in the north of Sakhalin. The epicenter of the tremors was located 35 kilometers southwest of the village of Sabo, the hearth was at a depth of 13 kilometers.
