An Activist was Fined $7 Thousand for a Video Joke About the Trial of Putin in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. The Central District Military Court in Samara sentenced an activist from Tatarstan Karim Yamadayev to a fine of $7 Thousand for a comic video about the «trial» of Russian President Vladimir Putin, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov and the head of «Rosneft» Igor Sechin. This was reported by the Telegram channel «Network Freedoms» on Thursday, March 4, with reference to the lawyer Vladimir Krasikov.
Yamadayev was found guilty of violating articles of the Criminal Code on calls to terrorism and insulting a representative of the authorities. The activist was also banned from administering the sites for two and a half years. The prosecutor's office requested a sentence of 6 years and 7 months in prison. Yamadaev pleaded not guilty and declared the inadmissibility of prosecution for «artistic fantasy in a decent form», the report continues.
At the end of December 2019, Yamadaev posted a video on YouTube with a mock trial taking place in 2022, in which the judge chooses a measure of punishment for people whose faces are covered with black clothes, and around their necks hang signs with the names. The description of the video says, that it was created by a creative team of «people united solely by an artistic idea and not pursuing the goal of promoting violence or inciting hatred towards any social group», and «any similarities with any names, persons, surnames, names, positions, etc. are random».
