American Law Firm Sued Google for Spying on Users
OREANDA-NEWS. Law firm Boies Schiller Flexner sued the company Google Alphabet Inc., accusing it of illegally collecting user data, even if they disabled the relevant options in their accounts.
The lawsuit was filed in the court in San Jose, California. Plaintiffs accuse Google of violating the federal law on wiretapping and state privacy law. In their opinion, the corporation collected data on what kind of news and advertising messages users are interested in, even though they turned off tracking in the settings.
According to Boies Schiller Flexner, the information was collected by Google through the program Firebase, which works inside applications and is invisible to users. Firebase is used by developers to store data, send notifications and advertisements, and track system malfunctions.
