OREANDA-NEWS  In Russia, almost 200 tons of products that caused botulism were withdrawn from circulation. This was stated by the official representative of Rospotrebnadzor Zhanna Terekhova. 

Terekhova explained that, at the request of Rospotrebnadzor, more than 100 declarations of conformity of products have been terminated. Employees of the service, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, interviewed more than two thousand people. In addition, it was possible to identify people with symptoms of the disease.

"Two research institutes of Rospotrebnadzor have been involved in the work, including the reference center for monitoring botulism. All laboratory facilities of the Federal Medical Institution Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the subjects of the Russian Federation are involved," Terekhova assured.

The representative of Rospotrebnadzor clarified that more than three thousand studies have already been conducted. Rospotrebnadzor laboratories found botulinum toxin in the remains of finished products, she stressed.

Earlier, 15 Russians who contracted botulism after eating lettuce were discharged from hospitals. One person recovered in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and 14 in Moscow.
