OREANDA-NEWS After the collapse of tankers with petroleum products, more than 129 thousand tons of oil-contaminated sand were removed from the beaches of the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said in his telegram channel.

"95 thousand tons of smeared sand have already been taken to the temporary storage site in the Voskresenskoye farm. I am grateful to the volunteers, employees of municipal administrations, rescue services and the Ministry of Emergency Situations for this. Through their efforts, more than 129 thousand tons of sand with petroleum products were collected and exported from the coast. Today, 6,8 thousand people worked, 650 pieces of equipment were involved," Kondratiev wrote.

On December 15, fuel oil tankers Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239 crashed in the Kerch Strait, and a fuel spill occurred. Oil products washed ashore, the pollution stretched for more than 60 km.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, four tanks with petroleum products were damaged in the tanker crash, and about 2.4 thousand tons of fuel oil fell into the sea.

On December 25, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev, introduced an emergency regime in the region. On December 26, a government commission chaired by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kurenkov, decided to introduce a federal emergency.
