OREANDA-NEWS   The rescue operation on the Volgoneft 239 tanker in the Kerch Strait has been completed, all 14 crew members have been evacuated ashore, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reported on Monday.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a message that two tankers, Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239, were in distress in the Kerch Strait, with 13 and 14 people on board, respectively.

Rescuers evacuated 13 crew members of Volgoneft 212, but one of them died.

There was a fuel spill in the area of the emergency.

As the maritime search and rescue services told Interfax, the crew's error in difficult weather conditions is considered among the main versions of the emergency with tankers in Kerch.

Also among the versions is an excessive storm load on the hulls of tankers.

The GSU of the IC for Crimea and Sevastopol reported the initiation of two criminal cases on the fact of violation of traffic safety rules and operation of marine transport, one of which was reclassified as a violation of traffic safety rules and operation of marine transport, which caused the death of a person by negligence.
