OREANDA-NEWS Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation have raised almost 1,000 ammunition of the Great Patriotic War from the bottom of the Gilzovaya Bay in Sevastopol, the press service of the department told RIA Novosti.
"Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Sevastopol lifted from the seabed of the Gilzovaya Bay and destroyed almost 1,000 explosive items at once. These are the first results of the new season of work, which began in March this year," the report says. It is specified that for the third year in a row, specialists are cleaning the water area from artillery shells, mortar mines, hand grenades from the Great Patriotic War. Divers lifted all the finds from the depth, after which the arsenal was destroyed at the landfill. The work was carried out in compliance with all security measures. The perimeter was cordoned off by the police, the situation was monitored from the air with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"Over the previous two years, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia eliminated more than 6,000 ammunition. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia will continue to work until the end of October," the message adds.
