OREANDA-NEWS. The largest exporter of Abkhazia, the company "Wines and Waters of Abkhazia" this year will more than double increase the export of sparkling wines to Russia due to increased demand. This was told to the Russian media by the deputy general director and chief winemaker of the enterprise Valery Avidzba, who has been working in this industry for more than 50 years. For the second year in a row, Abkhazia is among the five main wine exporters to Russia along with Spain, Italy, Georgia and France.

“Due to the fact that our sparkling wines are in great demand in Russia, we ordered 3 million bottles for 2020. In 2019, we exported 1 million 378 thousand bottles to the Russian Federation. The competition for sparkling and champagne wines in Russia is very high, and suddenly our sparkling ones are in such demand, we believe that this is an assessment of our work and that we are going in the right direction", Avidzba said.

He expressed satisfaction with the results of the past year, when the company exported almost 28 million bottles of its products to Russia without a single defect, including wine (26 million bottles), sparkling wines (1 million 378 thousand bottles), five- and five-and-a-half Abkhazia cognacs seven-year aging (270 thousand bottles), as well as chachi - Abkhazian grape vodka (135 thousand bottles).
